Yes, thank you very much for the response.
Exactly, it is the same building, only this time the apartment under the roof.
I will try to find out about the load-bearing walls and the windows by phone tomorrow. I do not live on site yet.
Sometimes I also think I should just leave it as it is.
But it is not only impractical and somehow I find it dangerous because the stairs are really very steep, but I also simply do not like to look at it. I like things to be nice. I still have to learn to think economically. As soon as I find out what everything will cost, the learning effect will probably set in quickly.
The whole house needs to be modernized:
All the lines have to be new, walls and floor coverings, and on the ground floor the floor is supposed to be filled with concrete. The bathrooms need to be redone, and so on. A few breakthroughs and floor-to-ceiling windows are also supposed to be installed.
Possibly I also want to have the extension of the main apartment built up.
A builder also came and wanted to make a cost estimate for it. That was 6 weeks ago, so far nothing has come in here, is that normal?
For renewing the electricity and water and heating lines, he did not want to make a cost estimate for the old house.
I will have to negotiate with the companies on site myself. Is that usual?
I thought I could hire the builder to take care of all the trades... but he only wants to do the extension, the concrete in the floor, and the breakthroughs.
From the outside, the house is insulated, the roof is from 2012, and the insulated windows are also not that old. Only the inside was always just worked on bit by bit.
I am doing such a renovation for the first time.
I first have to figure out clearly what I actually want, then what is feasible because of the development plan, and of course financially.
I think that is a good sequence, right?
On Thursday, I have a video consultation regarding financing. Since I do not yet know what will ultimately cost, I will approach it in such a way that I first get advice on how the loan even works (I have never had one) and what amount would be manageable for me. I am curious!
Best regards
