Well, you must not compare your PC from 2008 with a laptop from 2017

The connection to house construction and room layout doesn't make sense to me in this comment right now... ?

You wrote that in terms of performance there are no big differences between laptop and PC...

Oh, I see, yes. Understandable. That brings us back to the question, what does the OP want? Is he working hard at home in the office to conquer the world or is he just doing his tax return on the computer?

Yes, getting back to the topic is a good idea. By the way, the original poster writes right at the beginning: "Office in the guest room for occasional use."

As many of the "offices" discussed here are actually laptop bag and file folder storage rooms, where one retreats once a year for tax declaration. And otherwise plans online on the couch and at the printer in the office. The paper should then also be stored in the office so that the coffee table is free of files during TV time. "Office" doesn’t mean you have to sit there until you finish your "homework"

Well, if both the guest room and the office are only used occasionally and I only have 150m², wouldn’t it be better to give up this room?
In the end, the room will probably develop into the missing utility room. At the front are the ironing board, drying rack, and stroller. Only somewhere in the corner at most the computer – the fold-out sofa was already thrown out.
