Why did the design turn out the way it is now?

We wanted a closed kitchen and a staircase that does not go directly to the upper floor at the front door.
Additionally, there should still be space for a small office on the ground floor.
Based on the requirements of the building window, we wanted a larger main garden in front but also a small cozy retreat behind the house, both accessible from the living/dining room.
Additionally, a second entrance through the utility room was definitely set as a mudroom.
The plot to the west is also my parents’, so the driveway is planned in this direction.

What is the most important/fundamental question about the floor plan summarized in 130 characters?

Please provide feedback on our design.

Why a draftsman’s instead of an architect’s design? The first things I notice, of course, are the fantasy dimensions* (including the exterior wall thickness) and that I would hinge the bedroom window the other way around. All windows are tilt-only without turn function; is there supposed to be a controlled residential ventilation system? I would plan the bathroom more specifically (“furnished”). What do the roughly square boxes on the floor plan mean, which are drawn roughly around the stairs and “opposite” them? – I find the “passage” past the stairs to be “cutting it close.” Otherwise, I apparently see a house for people with different tastes than mine, but nothing “wrong” (though maybe some details are missing from the drawing). For a draftsman, this is a rather messy dimensioning; has he already completed his training? [I*] first 11antischer theorem: Fantasy dimensions are the germs of botched workmanship pockets! [/I]

Because the draftsman is sufficient to implement DIY planning. :p

If a finished drawing alone would already be an implementation ...

Thanks in advance for the feedback,

This is just a rough draft for now,
We wanted to take the draft to the surrounding timber construction companies and get quotes.
Exterior walls are not yet precisely drawn. Since it is a timber frame construction with a clinker facade, it will be about 450mm.
Controlled residential ventilation is planned, windows will be tilt-and-turn.
In the bathroom, I am still figuring out how the sloping roof and washbasin will work out.
The boxes mean nothing; according to colleagues, the software glitched a bit when creating the PDF.

My concern here was whether there are any major errors in the plan.
Once we have everything fully planned, I will be happy to post the more detailed version here again.

My topic is, regularly recurring, windows. In my opinion, the house has too few and too small windows. I like it, and I find it exceedingly pleasant when a room receives daylight from at least two sides.

Of course, I know the argument that you also need closed walls, but I would always proceed the other way around: How many cupboards (often only lead to "Geraffelsammelei" ;-) ), shelves, TV, pictures do I really need and do I prefer them to the view of the garden, my surroundings, etc.?
