Hello,
we are planning to extend an existing house soon and have an approved building plan from the authorities. We are currently planning the living/dining room as well as the kitchen in order to have the wiring laid correctly.
Here is the floor plan of the room:

To the north it borders a garage, to the east there is an existing house and a shared cellar. To the west is the driveway, here we would like to install only skylight windows. To the south we are planning large windows, one of them floor-high as a door to the terrace.
Originally, it was planned to use the smaller part of the room on the right side as a kitchen. However, we no longer like the idea of having a kitchen that is used as a passage room, so we are currently considering how it can be planned differently.

Here is what we want:
- Larger kitchen area with four tall cabinets (fridge, oven, dishwasher). The extractor hood can also be recirculating.
- Dining area with a table for 6-8 people
- Living area with sofa and TV
- The staircase could also be angled at the bottom so that it can be entered from the south or west. Underneath there would be storage space
- A large wall unit with a display cabinet
- Depending on how it opens out, a corner with bookshelves and possibly cozy armchairs or a bench

At the moment, however, we are completely stuck and can’t manage to properly furnish this huge room. Would you maybe have ideas on how it could be done?

Best regards, Martin

Hello Martin,

You have already approved the plan but don't know how it should be furnished? There is something wrong with the order.

Then why don't you show it to us? Maybe then one can better see the existing structure and what is to be built.

Where are the windows? Where is the sun? Where are the connections for water and wastewater?

What does the property look like? Please show pictures of the existing building.

*clears throat*... designing a room where you know nothing except kitchen and stairs... which could also go somewhere else.... that doesn’t work like that. Should the stairs lead to nowhere or to a floor? And are there sloping ceilings that could affect anything? And is the room supposed to be suitable for grandma, for a single person, or for a large family? Approved houses, as far as I know, already include the necessary windows. Maybe you could use the questionnaire from this subforum?! Then one knows more.

Hello,
thank you for the quick responses. I think I expressed myself poorly and posted in the wrong subforum. Would it be possible to close the topic here?
Thank you very much
