If the property and location are ideal, then an extension is worthwhile even if it is somewhat compromised and costs a bit more.

On the topic of living during the renovation:
Regarding life during the renovation: The garden is large enough for a renovation camping vacation on the property.

Ultimately, it is a question of attitude towards life. There are people who prioritize the practicality of a house, others who focus on costs, and still others the feeling of life they want to experience in the house, and surely there are even more aspects. Few manage to reconcile everything. Then some talk about sacrifice, others about compromise, and others are quite satisfied with the prioritization.

Extension option 1 turns the house into an interesting building with a special atmosphere. A material contrast could look good. I would prefer this concept to any new, no matter how practically built, city villa.

Do you want to or can you not answer the question?

The plans suggest that for a person who knows something in the field of construction, sufficient budget is available. Of course, this could be a false assumption. As long as I do not hear about a budget limit, I also respond as if there were none.

That's fine! But it doesn't apply to me, since I also spend my time on sketches. And there I have to weigh things up and reject pipe dreams. I also have no desire for endless discussions and brainstorming that are only based on assumptions (just because the questioner doesn't answer follow-up questions). And apparently, we not only have a budget limit here, but also obviously the limit of the floor area ratio. But an exchange just doesn't work that way.

Thanks for your feedback, especially regarding the bedroom, dressing room, and bathroom. I’ll take that directly on board. Whether the vestibule is really necessary is, of course, the question. Unfortunately, when planning, you often come back to this point: "Here I could additionally plan something useful." That’s how the vestibule came about, but it probably isn’t essential. However, I really like the idea of the service window!
Skylights are definitely an option.

You like the atrium-like room created in variant 1. I also think it’s great, but I don’t really know what to do with the room behind it. As a bedroom, it would be wonderful, but if I’m sitting there with friends in the "atrium," I wouldn’t want to look into the garden through the bedroom. So it would have to be a public room. That’s how variant 2 came about. Kitchen extension at the front and then the room, but the kitchen is way too far from the dining and living area. That led to variant 3. Well, now I’m asking you for advice.

Basically, essential and necessary are a new kitchen, 2 children’s rooms, and 1 master bedroom, as well as another bathroom for the extension.

Extension at the back for all private areas: children’s rooms, master bedroom, and bathroom
Extension at the front for the kitchen.

Am I creating just one construction site at the back or two? Two would, of course, also be associated with additional costs.
