That's always subjective. For us, 21 degrees is too cold to sit in the evening. How you can manage with the heating only one month is unclear to me. We also have KFW55, but the heating is still on because otherwise it gets too cold early.

We want that. 25 degrees in the evening is just right. 21 degrees is too cold for us to sit. I don't want to have to sit with a blanket.

At 25 degrees I watch TV naked, get turned over, and drink mojitos!

I saw with 2 families in winter what a small wood-burning stove does in a KFW40 and in a passive house with central ventilation: A log placed on, 30 minutes later the windows are thrown open because of overheating. End of the story: Both families used the stoves 2-3 times in 5 years. But spent 10-15k (including chimney etc). Of course, everyone has to decide for themselves.

On the subject of the fireplace.. we have a gas fireplace and even that is a bit too much for our house built "only" according to the Energy Saving Ordinance.. I wouldn’t have a fireplace installed again today, no matter what kind.

Hello, I just wanted to say a few words. We also decided against a fireplace or Swedish stove. It simply wouldn’t have made any sense. Now briefly about the pantry. It is supposed to stay cool and dry. If it is next to the kitchen, with its fumes, you should definitely keep the door closed. Also, if you love warmth, even more so. But an absolute no-go should be the freezer/fridge with its exhaust if you don’t want to create mold!
