Floor-level shower tiled with channels or with a shower tray?

I simply find tiles more beautiful.

For me, a purely aesthetic question, as long as you are not building barrier-free. We have floor-to-ceiling and tiled, 2 meters long and without glass ... That is stylish and not slippery due to the irregularly rough tile surface.

Decisive for the thread creator is: It is actually an aesthetic question (not just "for me"), since with proper execution both solutions are comparably permanently leak-proof.

We also have two walk-in tiled showers. One with 90 x 90 cm in a niche and with a glass door in the guest bathroom and one 240 x 100 cm without a door in the main bathroom.

Drain in each case at the front wall using a channel in the floor.

The appearance was also decisive for us.

our architect advised us against tiled showers because they become unsightly over the years. He said we should rather use completely flat shower trays. However, I must mention that we have very hard water here. After just one shower, we already have lime stains on the glass shower enclosure! But we have no experience with tiled showers, we are still in the planning phase for our 2nd house.

I find shower trays to be cleaner and more hygienic.. Our shower tray still looks bright white after 15 years, like new.. I think that would not be the case with a tiled floor. I somehow find wet tiled floors disgusting. I wish for our new house to have a shower tray again.. I hope there are nice, modern solutions for that nowadays as well.. Best regards, Steffi.
