We have a 45 sqm fitness room in the basement. There is always a very pleasant temperature here, even in summer. But we also had no alternative, since there is only 550 sqm of land and no extension is possible.
Inside there is a mirror wall, TV, speakers in the ceiling, TRX, cross trainer, bike, weight bench, and plenty of space for my step, aerobic, and [Bebauungsplan] courses, which I like to do together with 2-3 girlfriends.
If I, like you, had the space above ground, I would not build a basement for it, but rather an extension within the thermal envelope including shading and possibly air conditioning. I think that extreme temperature fluctuations damage the technology and equipment and that one also has no desire for a refrigerator or sauna. Therefore, in my opinion, a cold conservatory or garden house are less suitable.
