Yes, this question has also crossed my mind. I will ask her that.

What other questions do people usually ask or should ask?

He is not there. But both already know each other. They are also together on another project.

Hi,

Bring documents with you! In this appointment, many points of the construction process have already been discussed. And also things like:

    [*]Screed recess for the chimney
[*]Who should take care of the earthworks and the disposal of the excavated material?
[*]How and when will your own work be done?
[*]Scheduling, when does construction start, when can detailed discussions on-site take place, will you maybe be on vacation and unreachable?
    [*]etc...

So for us, this was not a coffee party (there was coffee and cookies anyway...), but rather a serious project meeting.

In general; be kind and nice to each other, you can (and will) argue later on.
Remember, the construction manager basically has the same interest as you: to get the construction done quickly and smoothly, but he sees it from the general contractor’s point of view and you from the client’s point of view. You should therefore consider the construction manager only as a professional partner, he is not necessarily your friend! (But not your enemy either...)

Best regards and good luck,

Andreas

First appointment where? In the office for coffee or....?

With us, the first appointment with the BL was on site at the construction site to determine the height level.

Are there already final roads? Otherwise, for new development areas, get the final road heights from the road construction.

If building without a base slab and the excavation remains on site and will be redistributed later, it does no harm to add about 30 cm of elevated fill sand separately (= first additional order to the general contractor of many). As compensation for the excavation. Otherwise, the building often sits too low – especially if it is filled in again later, i.e. the excavation is redistributed.

If you discuss the earthworks with the bl only at the appointment, something is wrong.
