Hello everyone,
I am currently looking for a good idea on how to best design our niche next to the fireplace. The niche goes from the very bottom up to under the ceiling and is supposed to serve as a wood storage area in the lower part up to about 1.50 meters. 33 cm logs fit quite exactly in there. Above that, I would like to install 2 or 3 shelves, but only for decorative items.
I would like to line the lower area with something that can withstand the wood-in, wood-out routine relatively unscathed over time. I do find plenty of pictures on Google, but especially regarding the choice of material, none of it has really helped me so far.
I am also uncertain about the shelves. Frosted glass somehow feels very nineties. As an alternative, I still have leftover pieces of a 35mm acacia board, from which I would cut something out if I have no other ideas. Oiled, it goes quite well with the parquet.
Currently, all three sides of the niche are completely plastered. The plaster would remain underneath. Maybe you have an idea...
Best regards,
Markus
