Hello,

I would like to configure our new front door with a fingerprint reader.
Now I have the option to choose between two systems or manufacturers.
Idencom or Ekey.
Which one would you recommend?
Maybe someone has experience with both?

Thank you very much in advance!

Know only Ekey. For that, different generations and variants. Ekey is the market leader in Europe and not without reason. For most, it's overkill, but I like the net variant.

We were advised against fingerprinting back then for security reasons. An interested observer can take a print from anywhere (e.g., from the handle of the car door when the car is parked in front of the house) and then use it as a key.

That sounded reasonable to me, so we decided against it. We now have keys – but my husband is a living key disaster. I would probably consider a locking system that can be opened with a number combination now.

Not true. That might work with 0815 scanners. Ekey, etc. have live monitoring, etc.

So you have installed a locking system from Urban Albs (Stealthkey)? Because pretty much any other key can already be copied from a photo...

Number combinations are the least secure of all options. Code fields with changing positions are better. And change the code regularly. Minimum 8 digits...

Better RFID. There are variants here that have not yet been cracked. Can also be used in combination with a fingerprint scanner. If an RFID chip is lost, simply delete it in the system and register a new one.

Fear is always a bad advisor. You should rather inform yourself comprehensively and then make a decision. Which single-family house is such a lucrative target that it is spied on, technology is used, etc. for weeks or longer?

I cannot believe that for the life of me. That might have been "easy" sometime in the 90s, but today there are numerous security mechanisms. It already starts with the fact that the finger has to be alive.
According to that statement, the interested observer could theoretically just go to the fingerprint reader and take a print directly and walk in. Why even have a lock then...
I do not want to deny that it is possible, but someone with that much experience would not break into random houses.
