One doesn't have to make that latter mistake (for more see my Barthel posts or feel free to contact me directly). Still, I wouldn't fixate on a single property.

No one talks about biting down firmly. But if you spread your interest everywhere in this way and thus get into conversation with many people, quite different opportunities can arise on the side. The effort is only made due to a lack of alternatives. As soon as better objects are found, the new objects will certainly be the focus.

Great idea, ideally shaking everyone's hand there as well no_O
I believe nursing homes and their residents currently have different duties & worries than also having to defend themselves against such behavior similar to a vacuum cleaner salesman.
If you put yourself in the shoes of those affected even for a moment, you realize immediately that something like this is absolutely intrusive and annoying.

Expressing interest and "pressuring" someone are still two different things. There are owners who are bothered by it and there are those who are grateful to find a buyer for the house without lengthy viewing tourism and real estate agent fees. But the interested party cannot know that beforehand; all they can do is try. And honestly, especially in villages, 90 percent of transactions happen under the table. Anyone who does not somehow make themselves noticed there has very poor chances.

In our local newspaper there was just an article about a young couple who distributed about 2,000 house-search flyers in strangers’ mailboxes here in Kassel. With introduction, photo etc. Probably some of the houses included had just recently experienced a bereavement, but that’s how they finally got a house in the desired location; they even had several to choose from – all without competition.

Thank you first of all for your input. We do not want to be intrusive or appear disrespectful in any way. However, the gentleman apparently lived very much to himself. We will inquire again through indirect channels at the registration office. However, my contacts there are no longer very fresh. Ultimately, the house might not be appealing from the inside at all, or the price is completely exaggerated, or whatever... Who knows. I would be happy if it works out... If not, then it probably was not meant to be. The location is simply almost ideal for us... That's why we want to try as far as possible.

Although here, relatives, if I understood correctly, at least do not live in the same village; and we don't know about the caregiver. From my point of view, the case constellation "owner already in the nursing home" corresponds to the proverbial child who has fallen into the well (but of course not equivalent to having drowned).

But: does that also apply to the framework conditions (actual building window, etc., let's not assume that the existing building is suitably unchanged)?
