I skimmed through the thread. We experienced it from the other side. Father-in-law was admitted to the hospital, and at some point it became clear that the end was near. From then on, our phone didn’t stop ringing. People (several) really pressured us to sell the house, even though father-in-law was still alive. That wasn’t really what you want to hear at that time and partly quite disrespectful. At some point, we were so annoyed that we were sure that if we ever sold the house, it definitely wouldn’t be to those people.

Yes, we have had similar experiences. My family owns 2 plots of land in a good location. My grandmother died relatively unexpectedly. We were all there then. I informed some of the neighbors. I was immediately asked if we already knew what would happen to the plots. I also found that very disrespectful, and I was completely taken aback; we hadn't given it any thought. Similar reactions from other sides, probably the most disrespectful was the expression of interest from her family doctor :mad:.

We then kept the plots, but we would definitely not sell to exactly those people...
