Pretty carpentry construction and nice small rafters. It looks a bit "different" for us, but you probably don't get snow that often :-) Usually the topping-out ceremony is when the "roof" is erected and rudimentarily sealed. Afterwards, the tiles are usually placed on top.

Veka is always printed on it. And then every now and then small yellow labels with something in Polish, and English instructions like Mount this side up. But I looked up Veka. It is a profile manufacturer supplying window builders. Karsten

Snow is less of an issue here than wind. We are right by the sea, so it’s quite windy, but it rarely snows. What do you southern people do differently? Thicker wood? The roofs here almost always come largely prefabricated from factories. The carpenters just assemble them. Karsten

Yes, not entirely. It always depends on the situation and region. Our house is located at 940m above sea level. Here, snow lies heavily and often for a long time. Our roof is a purlin/rafter construction made of glued laminated timber 30/14cm, supported by double-T steel beams... Our roof came "ready" in prefabricated panels, only the insulation between the rafters was missing.

I held back from commenting earlier ;) The rafters are very thin, I’ve also seen these in the Heinz von Heiden houses. This has nothing to do with the region, but with the price of the house: you just save on certain things. But Nordlys stands by building cheaply – so I don’t want to criticize the builders here, just state a fact :)

I wish you good luck with the weather tomorrow and a nice topping-out ceremony with Oldesloern and rum mixers... Enjoy yourselves :)

Regards, Yvonne

Just a board binder. They've been doing it that way in Denmark for 50 years. And it holds.
