With a space requirement of 4x4m, this is rather negligible; on the other hand, some manufacturers offer guarantees on the baskets because they are basically maintenance-free. Of course, something can always happen, but I prefer this system to any air-water heat pump because with this system I can manage without a heating element even at -20 degrees. Deep drilling is pointless for us, which is why alternative options are lacking. A heating element is definitely a no-go for us....

I've been told that you can lay stormwater infiltration above the baskets to keep the soil around the baskets moister and thus increase thermal conductivity. By the way, two collectors always run in one circuit. If something is leaking, you probably don't have to dig up all of them. The material is supposed to be extremely durable. A surface collector might be advantageous if you have as much space as you do ^^ We will have 900 sqm but also a house and double garage.. some trees. I still want to be able to build over the rest of the garden, e.g. a pool. Otherwise, surface collectors would be more suitable. The acquaintance only has 5 baskets? Then it’s certainly a smaller house, I assume! We definitely won’t take an air heat pump. Gas solar would be the cheapest, but gas won’t stay that cheap over the next 30 years. Therefore, I’m grateful for experience with spiral collectors. I know a colleague who was very satisfied with them, but of course one likes to hear more from people who have them and can really say something about them ^^

Is it a passive house? And are these spiral collectors or deep drilling? For 190 sqm we would need over 10 pcs.. (according to initial information)

It is a KfW40+ house with spiral collectors, i.e. ground heat baskets.

Ok in this case, 4 pcs might be enough ^^
