Hello,
for our construction project (new build mid-terrace house via developer) we sent the draft contract (developer contract) to a lawyer from the Homeowners Protection Association.
The lawyer’s offer came today:
flat rate for offer review, correction suggestions, one-hour legal consultation EUR 900,-

Since I have often read something about EUR 400 - 500,- here, I am a bit shocked. Especially since the Homeowners Protection Association advertises special conditions for members.

Do you have any experience regarding costs for contract review?
I mean, I do think it’s worth having a proper review. But I also don’t want to be ripped off.

Best regards,
Rocking dad

We had a contract for work checked by the Bauherren-Schutzbund lawyer in Aachen, it cost 170 euros. I don't know how extensive it is, but we needed 45 minutes.

With normal complexity, the hourly rate at Bauherren-Schutzbund is 250 euros.

Don't know how you come to 900 euros there or the lawyer.

According to the category classification of the Bauherren-Schutzbund, developer contracts are in category 3. Unfortunately, no price is indicated there and it always seems to be calculated individually. Our contract is 30 pages. Nevertheless, 900 seems very much to me.

If you have enough to do, you let yourself be well paid for overtime

Okay, our contract for work had 3 pages. Then you can't compare that.

...I would look for a specialist lawyer for construction and architectural law (yellow pages) and call them. Then you get a feeling for the price.

We should have done it earlier... Now we will shortly file a lawsuit against the developer.

Small example: two-tone house on the pictures in the brochure, painted one color. In the construction description there is nothing about two-tone...

A specialist lawyer should be able to protect you from such things.

Best regards
