Yes, you are right, I hardly ever experience that in my circle of acquaintances and also with the future neighbors. And there are certainly clear differences between those who build "downstairs" and those who build "upstairs" *g*.
Everyone has the right to present what they have achieved, but as I said, with tact. The line is very thin where one risks belittling what others have achieved, and that is rightly where antipathy begins. The line may be thinner in D than elsewhere, that is correct.
But reducing it to self-employed vs. employee, I consider far-fetched. Being employed does not automatically mean not wanting to leave one’s comfort zone, unfortunately it’s not that simple. Likewise, it is not true that every entrepreneur works hard for their money, I have seen many sides of that in my life as well.
But I fully agree about interfering: Everyone is welcome to ask why and how something was done, I do that too because I like to understand other people’s thought processes (occupational hazard). But then putting it down is of course not acceptable. That has nothing to do with envy but rather with a lack of understanding for other people and their needs.
