Hello,

most photos you get of the inside of these shelves are still Expedit and not yet Kallax.

The picture shows this quite well (but there are also people who build hamster cage holders out of these shelves and then cut ventilation openings into the surfaces).

In the link, you can see quite well the frame construction made of chipboard strips, which is similar in Kallax as well (see also comments in the above link).

If you now position the shelf supports so that the holes go into the chipboard frame, it should work – however, the holes would then be quite close to the edges and the shelf pins would be quite visible. How wide the frame is, is another question…

Regards,
IKEA friend

Or you build something stable out of four plus a top side. If you then no longer like it open or the shoes smell too much, you can simply put doors on it.

Cool service, directly with the right SK-Link.
Why do I need a cover panel? Do you mean on top so that the screws are not visible?
And which one would be the right one: Laxarby or Tingsryd?
And is there also an edge band for it, because I have to shorten the cover panel?
Can't I also screw the top panels so that the screws are on the inside? Then I wouldn't need a cover panel at all.
Best regards

If you turn the top panel of the cabinet upside down, the groove for the back panel faces upwards. You definitely need one cover panel on top if you want a continuous top surface. If you also mount some on the sides, you will have a uniform surface for sure. Whether TYNGSRYD or another one, I would decide by visual inspection. Matching edge bandings are not available, but you wrote that one side faces the wall. On all hidden sides, you can apply almost any edge banding you like.

Thank you Ikea expert, I will take a look at the fronts at Ikea. Although, installing the shelves in the Kallax seems easier to me than using such a Metod wall cabinet. best regards Section Chief

this tip from IKEA expert:

is great, but the price is outrageous.
however, you can easily make this yourself at low cost.
just take longer Utrusta shelves each.

cut these off on the left and right, use the cut-off parts on the right and left as supports, each connected with 2 wood screws, (or use the little knobs supplied with the shelf and drill holes for them) done.
costs...
not even 4 euros per shelf.
greetings robi
