Emergency power supply for oil central heating

I have roughly estimated it now: To cover my unavoidable base load for 24 hours, I would have to spend about 10,000 EUR on batteries. I’d rather do that later, when it’s about a complete solution including [Photovoltaik] on the roof and [Erdwärmepumpe].

A generator would always be a hassle because I would have to place it outside and have no reasonable way to run a cable inside without leaving a window open.

I’ll probably just wait it out. Maybe it won’t be that bad. Otherwise, we’ll move onto our boat during that time, where we’re self-sufficient for about a week.

Do you have an outdoor socket that also includes at least one indoor socket on its circuit? In case of a power outage, first switch off the circuit breaker for this circuit. Very important! This disconnects the circuit from the grid. Plug the generator into the outdoor socket (plug to plug, I would prepare something like this in advance) and tap into an indoor socket inside the house on the same circuit, possibly running an extension cable into the heating room. Done, completely without drafts! When the grid is restored, first disconnect the generator, then switch the circuit breaker back on. Of course, the VDE would shake their head doubtfully about this, but necessity knows no law...
