Hello!

I am considering routing every switch and every consumer individually to the utility room in my electrical installation and carrying out a central sub-distribution there. I expect this to result in less installation effort and the easy possibility of later changes...

Am I very alone with such fantasies?

Yep! In my current 70 sqm apartment, for example, I had 70 sockets installed during the renovation. You want to pull 70 cables for that and bundle them together in the utility room? Plus switches and network and SAT, etc.? Nonsense just for the sake of doing it.

Well, it's like a bus system without a bus. There, all switchable phases are also routed to the utility room. Multiple phases go into one cable. But there is also a system behind it. What does "easier possibility of later changes" mean if there is no plan at all? What do you want to do with all those cables later? For changes, you will still be missing a bus cable or something similar...

When I read central cabling, I immediately think of a bus system like KNX. If without a bus, then completely conventional.

Hmm, if it's about less installation effort, then certainly.

However, I fully agree with you regarding easier modifiability. Even without BUS etc., you have much more possibilities there.

If you think only of central timers or the possibility to operate several consumers with one switch. This is much easier to implement with this approach than with standard cabling.

But you can quickly run into problems with the loop resistance due to the long cable runs.
