Hello and thank you very much for your contributions!

Mycraft : Are there any good alternatives to Alexa? And is it also compatible with so many devices?

hanse : If I have learned one thing so far in house planning, it is that you should not build a house TOO individually in order to maintain its value or always keep the resale in mind. What I like does not have to appeal to any potential buyer. The value of a property is proportional to the range of potential buyers.

For this reason alone, but not only for this reason, I do not want to do without conventional switches or switching options.

Then at least lay a bus cable to all important locations. If you’re doing the installation yourself anyway, the bus cable doesn’t make much of a difference in price. But at least you can later convert to KNX. Because with that, you definitely have the full range of retrofit components.

KNX is unknown to me so far! I need to read up on it first...

Hmm yes, practically any other building control. And that without having to talk to a computer.

Alexa compatible with many devices?

Then first read what is possible nowadays. Alexa is rather just one possibility or a small part of the whole range.

Well, then I'll read a bit now.... Thank you very much for the suggestions!

As far as I have read about KNX so far, it seems to be exactly right for my needs!

I like voice commands. Likewise, I should be able to control the house via app and some automatism would also be nice. [Rollläden runter bei Dämmerung oder so]

Since I also want to link the whole thing with an alarm system including camera surveillance, which should arm itself as automatically as possible when I leave the house, I am slowly beginning to realize how complex this topic is!

Yes, then first read up on what KNX can offer you. Actually, your project is predestined for it, and you don't have to do without Alexa either, if desired.
