So we have a double-sash window including electric shading and the window is a special emergency exit window.
So basically it works. However, not retrofitted but ordered accordingly with the new house from the start.

The window has its own "solar power plant" with battery and works via radio remote control. No power connection necessary.
In case of emergency, replace the entire window "as a retrofit". I estimate costs at about 3K for new construction (according to our calculation), retrofitting afterwards I estimate rather at over 4K due to necessary adjustment work in the roof truss.

Oh, now "smart" is coming into play as well. You can do that, but you shouldn't rely on it. When there's a fire, the power often goes out and then you're stuck. But then it's just your problem or your family's. Just get yourself something decent, for example with a Roto motor. Velux is also very particular with "normal" motors if you're already thinking about "smart".

We have 2 Velux windows in our former terraced house, whose wood weathered surprisingly quickly, replaced by [Haim] and house plastic, and we had the electric shutters (remote-controlled) installed at the same time. The windows were not particularly stylish but mechanically robust and functioned flawlessly for many years with the remote control. The heat protection was very noticeable – we had our bedroom and bathroom in the attic and the bed under 2 roof windows.

I suggest a new house right away, because all the retrofitting will probably be as expensive as the new (current) house: smartphone/ventilation system/roller shutters/voting box etc. pp.

You shouldn't rely on any technology still working when the house is on fire... However, roof windows can be opened even with closed shutters.

Is it only about heat protection, so without darkening? A few weeks ago, I retrofitted a heat protection awning on my Velux double-wing window, which is super easy and very inexpensive. It is a reflective fabric that, according to Velux, blocks about 70% of solar radiation/heat. You can see out from the inside, but not in from the outside (we live on a hillside). The whole thing works mechanically with a roller blind that is simply hooked into the window (meaning you can still open the window).

You can check it out on Velux's homepage; there are also videos there. They also offer it with a darkening option and motor – but I don't know those. If you don't have Velux, I assume other manufacturers offer something similar.

You probably won't find reasonable heat protection cheaper. The opening (emergency exit) is still possible. And I think it's great not to be sitting in a dark room right away. You can tell: I'm enthusiastic :)
