Somehow kind of perverse when you let that sink in. And these cars are supposed to be especially environmentally friendly now?
Outdated doesn't mean broken.
You just take a financial risk when you buy, and three years later the residual values may drop drastically because charging performance, capacity, and ultimately range have developed significantly further.
I currently find what is happening with company cars and their subsidies quite bad.
It gets even worse when everyone starts charging at work and then uses it at home for showering, heating, and cooking.
Losing a total of 30% just to save a few cents or to get something from the employer...
Overall, it doesn’t make sense to me to wear out a valuable car battery at home.
Company cars have been a huge subsidy for a single industry for decades and should be abolished in this form, regardless of the drive type.
A battery pack for my eUP probably costs about 8-10k.
That gets you 32 kWh capacity.
How much capacity does the solar installer give you for the same money for the home storage? ;-)
“Old” e-car batteries will still become a sought-after commodity. Even if after 10 years they have lost 30% capacity, there are plenty of possible uses.
