Double carport directly on the street or a better place?

Hello, we are currently planning where would be best to place a double carport in our front gardens. We would like a 6x6 m carport. From the house facade to the edge of the footpath there are about 18 m. However, we want to arrange the first 3.5 to 4 m in front of the house so that it is not drivable (front garden). Then there will remain about 14 m in length and about 9.2 m in width (front, towards the street) and about 10.5 m wide at the back. The plot has an irregular shape. Maybe it is easier to understand from the picture/sketch.

For us it would be important:
1. That we do not always have to drive backwards into the carport. There is a lot of traffic on the street and visibility is reduced (because of the neighboring house).
2. We want to have a parking space outside our property boundary for quick parking when guests come. Unfortunately, there is no parking available on the street and surroundings.

The first plan was to place the carport directly at the house on the right side. Unfortunately, there are outdoor facilities for the heat pump there and we were advised to leave a distance of at least 3 m free, so this option is out.

Our current idea is to place the carport directly in front of the street and one side directly against the neighbor’s wall. Of the 9.2 m width, 6 m would be taken by the carport and with the other 3.2 m we could have the parking space. That would also be the driveway to the property with an asymmetrical double-wing gate. This way we could leave the carport open from inside and park in/out. The front 6 m width of the carport should be closed, either with a side wall or a wall in front of the carport. On the side on the left side (seen from the street) we will also install a carport side wall. This way we protect our property.

My question to you is whether there are other possibilities for the carport placement that could suit our requirements? We have thought a lot but so far we could not find any other alternative...

My other concern is whether there will be enough space in the courtyard for the two cars to park in/out?

Thank you very much!

You want to go through the gate (how does this open?) and then into the carport from the inside? For me personally, that would be way too much wasted space just for the driveway because you can only pave the entire area of 8x10m. And it’s still relatively tight, especially for the carport space right next to the neighbor’s house. I would always reverse directly from the street over the sidewalk into the carport and beautifully design the 8m behind it as a garden. For that, however, I would swap the carport and parking space so you don’t have the neighbor's house right in front of you when backing out.

Thank you very much for your quick reply. Yes, the gate will be a double-wing gate but asymmetrical. I mean one wing is about 1m and the other 2m. The 1m can be used when you come home on foot and if you need to drive in with the car, both wings will be opened electrically and you drive in and then into the carport. It is like this, then we should pave this 8x10m but we also thought it is good for the children (2 and 5 years old :) ) because they can also play there with the bicycle or scooter. We still have the other area near the house for some garden and the sidewalk. We also considered having the carport open to the street and always driving backward over the sidewalk as you say but I see 2 disadvantages: 1.- Either the carport remains open to the street or we have to build a sectional door 2.- Anyway, we have the problem with parking and the street. As I said, it is a street with heavy traffic and then cars have to wait until you get the car inside the carport. With swapping carport/parking space we will gain some visibility but then we always have the old side wall of the neighbor in sight (with the carport directly pushed against the neighbor it will be a bit hidden :-) Forgive my not entirely correct German. It is not my mother tongue. Best regards, Isabel
