Alpina Original costs about 50€ per bucket and it covers really well. For the first coat, you can also use the cheap paint from the discount store. In any case, I would not use a cheap paint roller.
I would get a roll and try it out. I don't know the tape as such, but with masking tape there are big differences. However, I have generally had good experiences with Tesa so far. I would avoid cheap masking tape that doesn't stick properly. The savings are not worth the hassle.
