Distance of niche cabinet to side walls

Ok, then forget my post, if the measurements are actually available then everything is fine.

Mold behind the cabinet is mainly an issue when one of the two adjacent rooms is heated strongly and the other only weakly. Then the dew point is undershot. Ventilation under the cabinet already helps (gap between the recessed baseboard and the underside of the cabinet). That is actually the point of a built-in cabinet, that it fits exactly to the centimeter. Therefore, I wouldn't exaggerate with too large gaps all around.

Well, if the niche is already finished, then you can check it afterwards. If you want it to be very precise, you could possibly have a suitable board cut to size at the hardware store and you can check if it really fits everywhere. This way, especially on the sides, you can clarify the measurements very accurately; a few millimeters less at the top or back won’t be so noticeable.

I just realize that the niche is probably too wide for that. But with a laser, you can measure the dimensions at a larger number of points and see how straight the walls are. Allow a little space at the back and about 5mm or 1cm or so so that you can actually get in. It does need a bit of play to get the cabinet into the niche.

Yes, maybe the 5 cm on each side is really too much. That might also look odd. At the back, yes. On the sides, maybe you could leave enough space to get next to the baseboards. I think ours aren’t that thick, maybe 1 or 2 cm maximum.
