Very good. It really makes sense to catch the water and use it wisely if you have to let it soak away anyway. With 6000 liters you can get quite far. I have connected the gutters from my terrace myself. Even if it rains briefly and a little, you have enough water again.

How was the infiltration solved?

If you already have the 6m³ cistern, I would wait with the well for now. If you notice that you are running out of water, you can still have it drilled.

As already written. It was excavated very generously and the entire area around the cistern was filled with pebbles. The water from the overflow then flows there.

We currently have a fountain and find it fantastic (it is also connected to the toilet flush, with a domestic water system). Also, free garden water in summer as much as you need. We would also love to have one again, but where we are building, the groundwater is so far away that it is no longer economical. Therefore, a cistern. We were also told that it would not be worthwhile to connect it to the toilet flush because the additional pipes would cost more than the water saved. However, I cannot back this up with numbers. May I ask what that roughly cost? So cistern, earthworks, connection?

Morning,

that’s official... for that I get about 2,500 m^3 of fresh water here. I won’t need that much in my garden for the rest of my life...

But okay, for you it was a prescribed must. Here it’s exactly the opposite. Even if you have a cistern, it is mandatory to connect the overflow to the sewer system and with that you pay the full rainwater fees. Completely crazy...

Regards,
Andreas
