I don't know if there is a difference between a deviation request and a preliminary inquiry. I don't know all the terms.
Our preliminary inquiry is also called "Voranfrage" by our architect (50€).
Under the project it says:
"Voranfrage: New construction of a single-family house with deviations from the development plan - roof pitch and knee wall"
We then received confirmation from the city as a "preliminary decision".
After that, we submitted a "building application" (800€).
In both cases, the application form says "building application / application for preliminary decision".
Below it says "in the simplified approval procedure, information on the marked numbers 7 to 9 is not required".
As I was explained, we could not do a simplified approval procedure because we had deviations.
I think the term might have different names in different countries/ districts.
