That is probably because the proposed plan is so unreasonable that the experienced planner simply can’t imagine it.
Here is how I understood it – however, I spared myself mapping the actually planned house floor plan:

Two driveways, useless north garden, terrace facing the street intersection. The plot is completely unsuitable for the wishes and demands of the OP.

No, the granny flat is not to save money, it is not intended to be rented out. The plan was for my mother to have her own area.

I also find the children's rooms too small, but we don't know how to make them bigger.

Maybe convert the master bathroom into a shared bathroom?

My wife wants to omit the children's bathroom and make a gallery out of it. Unfortunately, everything is difficult to realize on the building plot. The architect says that you cannot create living space on the garage. Is that true?

We have communicated our wishes and are now waiting for the second draft.

Give the house a different staircase
Living, dining, cooking in the basement with garden access is not a luxury for children
Sleeping, bathroom, children's room on the ground floor
Mother's granny flat with balcony in the attic
Parking spaces by the garage so there is at least some garden
