Hej,
we want to beautify our Pax wardrobe (236 x 200 cm) with individual sliding doors; at the moment, it unfortunately still has no doors. ;) Meanwhile, you can also buy the frames of the sliding doors separately, and since we don’t like the panels or they don’t fit into our room concept, we want to insert MDF boards into the frames and wallpaper them. However, I now need the exact measurements of the door panels that can be placed in the aluminum frame, so I can have the boards cut at the hardware store. Ikea couldn’t help me; they suspect a thickness of 4mm, but they don’t know the exact height and width of the panels.
In the assembled state, I can’t measure them at Ikea either, and buying 4 panels just to carry them home, measure them, and not quite knowing if Ikea will take them back afterwards seems very inconvenient to me. So does anyone maybe have the possibility to measure the panels to the millimeter exactly before assembly and share this here with me? I would appreciate your help.
Furthermore, we would also like to paint the aluminum frame in a different color. However, all the hardware stores advised against this for reasons of material and durability. Now I am considering having the frame powder coated at a paint shop. Has anyone ever tried something similar and can report on their experience?
Last but not least, we also want to make a top cabinet out of a sawed-off and laid crosswise 75cm Pax body with Gnosjö kitchen doors. Because of the sawing, we now need the matching edge banding for the black-brown Pax. Unfortunately, I haven’t found the right one in any hardware store yet. Could you maybe also give us a tip on what we should use for that?
Many thanks in advance.
