Hello everyone,

we have reached the "decorating phase" and would like a curtain for our floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room.

Now the question about the mounting:

In the bedroom, I have a normal curtain rod mounted on the wall on the left and right. In the middle, the rod sags slightly, but it is hardly noticeable unless you know about it.

In the living room, I would like a "better" solution, possibly something invisible, so that the eyelets/loops etc. are not visible. The curtains should, of course, run smoothly and, if necessary, stay in a nice wave shape.

Now my question:

What have you done? I am not opposed to ceiling mounting! I think that due to the roller shutter box, mounting a rod in the middle is difficult (I would rather not drill through it).

There are rails from €5 up to €60 and I am really unsure what makes sense. Maybe someone can share their experiences here?

Desired is:

- rail/loops/hooks as invisible as possible
- easy mounting
- no cheap material
- ceiling or wall mounting, as long as drilling through the roller shutter box is not required.

It is a 2-leaf floor-to-ceiling window with a width of 1.76m

Hi,

so we only hung a curtain in the bedroom. A thin rail screwed to the ceiling with small dowels. It is visible, but it does not sag. Since both are white, the rail at the top is hardly noticeable. Thin eyelets are attached to the curtain. The matching cutouts were incorporated by the "curtain lady" during manufacturing. It slides easily. We also have a floor-to-ceiling window.

Thin "eyelets?" Where do you hang the eyelets? Since you have a rail, the eyelets would have to be hooked onto hooks, right? Do you have a close-up picture of this?

Which strip did you buy here?

I haven't taken a close-up yet. ;) So far it hasn't been that "interesting". I might do it sometime on the weekend. The rail was sold to us by the local upholsterer here, who also sewed the curtain. Very discreet. As you can see a bit in the picture, it is practically not visible from the front because the curtain hangs "in front of" it. Please don't ask me what the strip is called...

Hi,

here are the "close-ups".
When the curtain is pulled apart and neatly folded at the top, you can hardly see the rail anymore.
Unfortunately, I can't answer which provider this is. Our interior decorator retired in February.

I had such U-channels in my last apartment as well. Easy to install, material costs (of the channel) negligible.
There are at least cheap "sheet metal versions" and somewhat better powder-coated aluminum versions. Probably plenty of other variations. Rollers (alternatively plastic gliders) run inside the profile. There is also something like this as a T-profile where the rollers run on the outside.

The curtain has curtain heading tape (which later creates the desired folds). The rollers are hooked onto this.

I am somewhat familiar with the topic because my father is a master tailor and he (together with my mother) also occasionally sewed a curtain (especially for the family ;))

I will probably also do something like this under the ceiling someday, although I imagine fixing the rails in a milled groove (since I have a solid wood ceiling that would be possible) so that they become completely invisible and not just almost
