Hello Matthew03,
I’m curious about approximately how much the pool will cost. How big is the pool and will it also be heated?
Yes, I’m interested in that too. My wife wants a pool – it’s always sensible to plan it in from the start. Is a cover or roof (e.g., made of sliding parts) being considered? I’m always quite critical when a pool is left open or only has a "cheap" cover over winter.
Hello you two,
we actually keep the costs for the pool relatively low. This is mainly due to the type of pool chosen and the do-it-yourself work. Since a fiberglass pool unfortunately falls out for budget reasons, after much weighing and researching we ended up with a styrofoam pool. The styrofoam blocks are filled with concrete and reinforced with iron rods. Because I definitely want a rectangular pool, it’s minimally more expensive than an oval one, but for both variants complete sets like these are offered. It’s important, however, to pay attention to whether the offered pump is really sufficient for the pool size.
Our pool will be 8x4 meters and 1.5 meters deep. We will surround it with a wooden deck and heat it with a solar absorber (which is then an extra circuit for the filtered water). My in-laws have had very good experiences with both, and the water temperature is quite reliably around +/- 23-24 degrees even in the German "summer." The costs for the pool set including liner, edging, wedge bead, pump, ladder, and small parts are about 3,800 euros, plus the solar absorber for about 400 euros (depending on size) and the concrete for the base slab and filling (about 700-800 euros). A friend who operates an excavator will dig the hole in the garden for a case of beer...
We probably also want to buy a cover, but if so, a "proper" one that can also bear the weight of children and animals. Since that is a bit more expensive than a thin tarp, we have to wait and see what is left of the budget in the end; maybe it’ll only come later...
