I was not aware that I would start a discussion with the room on the ground floor. This room is primarily intended as a wardrobe (extended storage room (e.g. stroller)), which later on (when at least one can no longer climb the stairs) can at least accommodate a double bed. This solves space problems initially and later on addresses the first "signs of aging." If neither of us is really mobile anymore, we will switch to assisted living. I have already seen such a room on several plans and also a few times in real life (sometimes even a bit smaller), and I found it very practical regardless of how it was used. Of course, I agree with you that my room, measuring 3.30x3.60, is still somewhat tight.

And in reality, in that case you will rather partition off a piece of the large living room because with slightly more sensible planning it makes a perfect "older bedroom".

Mmh, okay. Maybe we should distinguish "old" from "sick." My grandmother is now 96 and doesn't need a rollator (I thought I was the Saxon here). She still climbs to the first floor on a very narrow staircase when necessary. My uncle is only 75; he's confined to bed and needs diapers because of dementia. Experience tells me you really can't plan anything here.

Please don't argue on my account
I will upload revised plans on Saturday, then you can still decide whether the planning is hopeless

I would not base it on the room. The plan has already been pretty thoroughly dissected as a whole. In my opinion, rooms under 10m² are only storage rooms. Except for living and children’s rooms, all your rooms are that small. It’s like the mouse family. As I said, it’s not worth discussing. Nothing remains of the design here after all the necessary changes. What are the wall thicknesses inside and outside, by the way?

You are right, it is not necessarily a matter of age. I probably know too many sick people with mobility impairments.
Your grandma would never even dream of changing her bedroom as long as she still goes up the stairs twice a day.
However, if someone is no longer mobile, they will stay in the house as long as it is still feasible for both.

Simply for use with mobility restrictions, a larger amount of space is required. Anyone who keeps this in mind must, in my opinion, be aware of this. Spending money on a shower that is not usable in case X is unnecessary.
