Hello dear forum members,

In a new development area, my neighbors have asked if their crane can stand completely on my property for a few weeks. Also, some excavation material for intermediate storage. We will only start building our own house in a few months. Basically, we want to help our neighbors. Would you have any concerns? What comes to mind are things like soil compaction (if it is in the area of our later garden). What about gravel and compaction for the crane place, can all of that be cleaned up properly? What about liability if something happens? What if it takes significantly longer than planned, for whatever reason?

It would be great to hear your opinions on this.

Excavation is common practice to have stored at the neighbor's. I am a bit surprised about the crane; it is usually always set up on one's own property, and that is not a problem either. Why should it now be on yours? If it cannot be helped due to circumstances, OK, but what if you had already built?

If proper deadlines had been agreed upon, I wouldn't have any stress with it. Just like the removal of the traces (gravel)... Your ground is compacted anyway after the construction. in new development areas, there are almost only towel-sized plots. Often the space is not sufficient.

Thank you for the response. They have little space for a crane. That means the street would have to be closed. It is simply about these costs. It would of course be possible.

What is important, as Rick already says, is to agree on a possible deadline or similar so that nothing stands in the way of your start of construction! Otherwise, I would have no concerns and it will certainly contribute to good neighborly relations.

How realistic is it that the crane will be gone by the time you want to start? A few months is not that long... With stone made of stone and a gable roof, the neighbors won't be finished in 3-4 months. Especially now that the bad weather could also come.
