I will inquire at hardware stores and at other sanitary companies. The next bombshell: a company I just contacted is charging 1000 euros net for preparing the offer :) to check the seriousness of the request. That they can afford to do something like that. I would understand 200 euros.

I don't know what times we are living in, but 38k for a 5 sqm bathroom is pure madness. That's the annual net income that some families can live on for an entire year in some places. It really leaves one speechless.

I would also inquire at the hardware store. If applicable, it might be worth checking whether KfW funding is still available for age-appropriate renovations.

That's exactly what I thought when I saw these prices. But there seem to be enough people who pay these prices without batting an eye.

As a comparison: My complete new build HSL installation with two bathrooms, kitchen, utility room with 160m² underfloor heating and ventilation as well as a descaling system and two outdoor water taps, but without tiles and painting, will probably cost me around 50,000 EUR minus 13,000 EUR BAFA subsidy in the end, so ultimately as much as your little bathroom. Oh, and the electrical work is in another trade, so I can't calculate the cost share, but let's say 5,000 EUR (which it certainly isn't). Your offer really already feels like a rip-off...

Munich cannot be compared to the rest of the country. I spoke earlier with a plumbing company and they told me they receive 50–60 calls a day for bathroom renovations. Apparently, people here have too much money and need to get rid of it.

Bad. That would be a reason for me to do it myself. Because of the bathroom to use, you can just rent a camper and park it in front of the house. In winter, those things might not be so expensive anymore. Or is there a Dixie toilet Deluxe, with shower function?
