And a TV crew could also accompany you. Why not several? Then you can cover all the costs with that and a house is free! Cool, right?

Just as a small guideline. I really did everything myself (except the kitchen and interior doors) including the complete plans (you only need an architect, structural engineer, and site manager to sign off on the building permit). Material was of course purchased and many things were also made by myself. It might not really be comparable but the calculations (turnkey) from prefab house manufacturers and general contractors were roughly around 480k€. In the end, doing everything myself, the final price came to just under 600k€. You see, the more you do yourself, the better materials and more unusual things you choose because you are building the house for yourself. (For your information: After completion, the bank sent an appraiser who valued the property at >1m€)

First of all, RESPECT! I think that's great.

Is there a report or documentation or something about it?

I am also someone who builds a lot myself. A large chicken coop. Shelter for two trailers. I like to tinker a lot in the garage. However, what I make myself is usually much cheaper. I often settle for a low standard. For example, the stilt house for the kids is made entirely from "waste wood." I got the square timbers for free. They were used to transport metal parts on trucks. Properly prepared, they look great. I got the tongue and groove boards for free via eBay classified ads. They were actually leftovers from the facade of a new building, etc.

I don't want to say that you should build a real house out of such "leftover materials." Definitely not! But that you don't necessarily have to use much higher quality materials just because you build something yourself.

Best regards Specki

When building yourself, you sometimes have options that are not simply available off the shelf or in the next furniture store. probably built it himself because it is fun and not because money is tight. Great achievement. Hope to read more from you. Especially when the self-builders have questions or approach it naively.

I just wanted to point out the risk that exists when you do a lot yourself. You inform yourself and look at various things, and what you end up liking is usually always the things that are also the most expensive. But when you look at samples with a general contractor or prefab house manufacturer, you only see the things they have in their portfolio, and even there, they always showcase their premium options.

What should not be neglected either is the enormous time commitment. That is why it is usually not possible to do many things yourself.
