We would like to have two prefabricated garages 2x 3.3m installed after the house is built. We think the driveway is too narrow for a setting vehicle at 3m. What does it cost to install the garages with a crane? Any experience? Should we expect additional costs for the barriers?

Then just don’t install the garages after the house construction (and perhaps clarify the situation once).

Hello,

so if you want to set the garages only after the house construction and the driveway is then only 3 m wide, it actually becomes tight to impossible for a setting vehicle. Usually, only the crane remains. The costs strongly depend on how far the crane has to extend and what the local situation looks like, but roughly you can expect 800 to 1,500 Euro per garage setting, depending on how complex the whole thing gets.
If you have to stand on public ground (e.g. closing the street or blocking the sidewalk), then usually fees for the permit and possibly for the signage will be added. This can cost between 100 and 300 Euro depending on the municipality. In some cases, you even have to hire a traffic safety company separately, which can add extra costs.
If it is feasible, it is really worth considering setting the garages before the house construction or at least keeping the area clear so that setting with the regular vehicle works. This saves you not only money but also a lot of stress.

We want to place the garages directly next to the house. This is only possible once the house is plastered, we were told. And masonry garages are supposed to cost twice as much. Furthermore, the space is needed for the construction site setup.

Is that then an access for the 2 garages? Is that a property in the second row? How long is the access? A site plan might be useful.

For "clarification," I was thinking of an aerial photo / cadastral excerpt or similar. Not too small-scale please, so that alternative routes can be explored.

Setting garages directly next to the house with a crane practically only works without eaves or if there is no roof structure yet - which of course conflicts with being plastered. What I always like to recommend are garages from Bimsfertigbau Hoffmann, which are built on site like a kit (but as far as I know only by a team from the manufacturer). They are not cheap, but very cost-effective. In my residential area, they are abundant, so I know from personal observation that their durability is such that even after fifty years they still look as neat as when newly installed. Generally, garages are almost as expensive as gold in my opinion. But masonry garages are a cheap option in that regard because they are the favorite of DIY enthusiasts.
