Before building the house, I – who actually have two left hands with 10 thumbs – urgently needed a cordless screwdriver as well as a new hammer drill. I got both as "green" Bosch machines at the hardware store.

It simply depends on what you need it for. I never needed a rotary hammer at the house before. The only time I consciously saw one in use was once with our drywall installers. For the hammer drill, I deliberately chose one with a cord because I didn’t want the battery to run out. The cordless screwdriver proved its worth in the last few weeks when dismantling a wooden playhouse for children. I would say – my father and I removed about 800 screws with it. My father, by the way, used a cheap one that he has certainly used quite often. Both worked well. In spring, the use will be the other way around – assembling the playhouse on the property.

Lately, I have also been looking more at machines from Makita – they have always been highly recommended to me as very high quality. By the way, I got the cheap jigsaw and circular saw from Lidl. They work too.

I have a very good small cordless screwdriver (Bosch gsr 10 8-2-li) and an inexpensive green hammer drill for the rough work. In my opinion, the ideal combination: the screwdriver is used for all screwing tasks (and due to its light weight, working is really pleasant) and occasionally drilling a 5mm hole in a stone wall is also possible. For more, then the bigger machine is used.

Clear answer: BOTH! And then at least a good rotary hammer as well.

We occasionally had four machines in use for drilling and screwing:
18 V cordless screwdriver as an all-purpose tool
Electric screwdriver (with a few thousand drywall screws, the arms get tired quickly using cordless devices)
Electric drill for that extra power and speed, e.g. for metalworking
Rotary hammer

So, I consider two drilling and screwing machines as the minimum equipment!

If you screw a lot, even a small 10.8V cordless screwdriver is worth it, they have more than enough torque and speed but are light and don't need a cable.

In addition to the devices described above, I also have a "mini cordless screwdriver". The idea was that I could also reach places that are difficult to access with it. It was once part of a promotional campaign. The bit set or drilling set purchased at that time has proven itself, as has the mini laser level. However, the battery of the mini screwdriver is so weak that this thing hardly worked at all. Or – this alternative also exists – I was just too dumb to use it.
