see a few posts above you. Now the typical envy debate against the evil HilfeHilfe starts again.

For me, it’s not about buying new clothes or just getting a bigger and better TV after 2 years. That’s not life to me. I love traveling, but even there, the hotel resort with a pool and full board doesn’t mean anything to me. That doesn’t mean I book economy class. I don’t like the bigger, further, my huge house, my luxury car, my bestest, greatest stuff. Money is never enough for that, no matter how much you earn. I want to be worry-free, healthy and content. That is life to me.

"Life" for me is when I work on achieving MY goals set by myself. So "life" is primarily what I DO, not what I buy or have. The fact that you can do little without having something means that I also, of course, consume: according to relatively clear priorities. Vacation in the south with a star-rated hotel, a fancy car is not part of that. Why? Because I mostly see such things with people who show off what they can afford. It’s probably about generating envy or applause because they rely on this external stimulus. So you become dependent on the opinion of others. That’s why some even write forum posts about it sometimes... That closes the circle: If I want to do MY thing, I try to make myself as independent as possible from the opinion of others and look for a suitable environment where the monetary dick-comparison doesn’t bother anyone.

This active prioritizing, deciding, acting, and occasional pruning of the "friends list" is life for me.

Slowly I feel with your posts that there is something in your life to compensate for... Or what exactly is supposed to be achieved with this question?

I just wanted to know how you define "living" and how people budget.

Despite Corona, an insane amount of tight financing requests are coming in, where I wonder how people manage to reconcile it. Living and financing.

And no, I don't have a Porsche in front of the door, but consciously financed smaller.

Tight for your understanding of living?
