Hello everyone,
My husband and I will probably be assigned a plot of land by the end of June at the latest. We are now planning to build intensively. Everything is to be built by craftsmen. Floors/walls will be the muscle mortgage. Now we have the chance that my husband takes 2 months of parental leave and can focus intensively on the house construction again. However, the latest time would be the 13th and 14th month of our child's life. That would be February and March 2017. Taking parental leave earlier probably does not make much sense (shell construction phase/drying time!?).
So, now to the actual question: Is it sensible to be at home during this time? I am interested in an approximate timetable to know if it is worth giving up the money. Our thought was: 2 months of intensive care = save construction time/shorten double burden.
Is it realistic that, upon allocation of the plot at the end of June 2016, the shell construction would begin in October? We have already had some preliminary discussions. When would the shell construction including drying phase be finished, and what will probably happen in February and March?
I know that this is quite hard to say. But you can assess it better based on your experience than we can.
Addition: How realistic or naive is this plan?
End of June 2016 plot allocation
Beginning of October 2016 start of shell construction work
End of November start of drying phase
March start of interior construction phase
