Hello everyone,

we will soon begin building our house.
Now I had the idea to document this visually and later make a time-lapse film from it.
Perhaps the hardware used could later also be used to monitor the property.
Does anyone know if there are special autonomous webcams or cameras for this purpose, or another way to implement the project?
We would be grateful for any tips.

If this post is in the wrong place, I kindly ask an admin to move it appropriately; this forum seemed the most suitable to me.

No idea.... But if you install a webcam, you must inform every craftsman and worker that you are making video recordings. Also, obtain written consents for any possible distribution on the web. Otherwise, you are committing an offense.

Hello Fabiorella,

to document the event and see the construction progress, the camera must be mounted somewhere in a tree or something similar so that it has an elevated position and the camera is not too obvious (theft, vandalism).

Also, I don't think the workers will like it if they feel like someone is constantly behind them watching! I also don't want a workplace under a webcam.

Best regards

There are such garden cameras relatively cheaply available, for example to make time-lapse recordings. BUT: as already mentioned, you are not allowed to do this without informing the employees and obtaining their permission.

I think the biggest problem is that the cam needs a battery, but something should be found for that. And for the employees, it’s basically enough to put a notice on the door that a camera is installed. They will hardly miss an order just because a cam is hanging in the tree.

At the door is probably too late, because by then the order is usually already placed. If he then doesn't want it, the only option is to unscrew it again or put a black bar over it. Because refusing to be filmed hardly gives you the right to cancel the order.
