I’m rather wondering how your income changes with children. Do you already have any? Or are any planned? You seem to be earning enough at the moment for the desired loan (and the equity ratio is also good), but the question is whether the salaries will stay the same in the future or significantly decrease due to parental leave or part-time work.

Child is such a topic, we can imagine it, we do not rule it out. Nothing is planned so far. Our salaries increase every two years by about 150 euros net per month each time and there are child allowances. However, for both me and my wife it is unimaginable that one of us would take parental leave or even work only part-time for several years. We rule that out. Both grandparents live in the same town anyway. In addition, our working hours are very flexible (home office up to three days a week, teleworking, flexitime, etc. etc.).

I would not agree with the part about it being unimaginable. We’ll talk when you have a child. It doesn’t even have to be sick, but a difficult crying child. Then every grandma wants to step in, and you full-time work.

You can also simply create facts. But that’s not quite the proper way. I find the talk about children in the forum always a bit exaggerated. For the first 1-2 years there is parental allowance as a bridge and part-time as a civil servant is absolutely no problem. Salary increases are fixed and compensate. On top of that comes a child/family allowance. Maybe you include a repayment reduction in the contract and that’s that.

This sentence originates from the traditionally shaped mindset of people who have not internalized a modern way of life.
Apparently far from the imagination of these people is the idea that what is common practice in other countries could also be implemented successfully by people like us.
What if... yes, what if you had a stroke tomorrow.

Assuming that the child – like 99% of all children – is completely normal, both parents working full-time works wonderfully. You just have to organize yourself. You shouldn’t let yourself be talked out of that either.
