Some children even more. But I think that is calculated over 24 years. In that respect, the amount is somewhat relativized. Of course, if the child takes piano, Chinese, and tennis lessons and also keeps a horse, it will get more expensive. Then in the end you have 2 Ferraris. But those are things that settle over time. If there is no money for tennis lessons, the child just has to figure out how to save up for it (that was the case with me too).
A few years ago, Der Spiegel investigated that it costs an average of €100,000 in Germany to raise a child until they are 18. That is about €500 per month. Which seems quite realistic to me when you add everything up.
