Just look around. Use the time and strictly build your house. No matter what is stated in the construction service description, if you know satisfied builders, that speaks for the company.

It's strange that the craftsmen are so cheap with you. Could it be because the craftsmen drive to Frankfurt or Munich for us? It can't be just about the earnings. Bavaria also has "poor" regions, and Lower Saxony has well-off regions, especially in the catchment area of the small car manufacturer.

Perhaps two price brakes on craftsperson costs that operate in SH and East Lower Saxony do not apply to you in the Rhön. Craftspeople from MVP in the market, many Poles in the market. Karsten

Presumably. There really aren't any Poles here, and if there are, they are permanently employed by the local companies.

I had expected more wage equality from the minimum wage. OK this is now very off topic

As already mentioned, in the East the minimum wage for a bricklayer is around 11.30 or so, in the West it's just under 15 euros. And that's only the minimum wage, which is rigidly paid in the East, while in the West an average of 2 euros more is added. That already makes a difference of 6 euros just for the craftsman. Then there are all the other costs that may also be cheaper in the East. The fact is, here in the East the normal billing rate for a regular construction company is somewhere between 30 and 37 euros. I don't know how high it is in the West.

No idea, very different. If you have a one-man operation that only works around the local area, it is significantly cheaper than if you hire a larger company.

We have a competitor who actually had to pay his foreman more money after the introduction of minimum wage. Really hoped that this East - West thing would disappear.
