I think that is a good plan. Especially because the 50k might also work without [Grundschule] and you could save costs. And you have enough time to decide on a floor plan, etc. Everything calmly, without stress.

Similar to my predecessor, I would prefer option 3. Stay in the current apartment, it saves you all the moving stress and the associated costs. Moving into a smaller 3-room apartment can also mean stress for the family. Try to clear your head so that you can fully concentrate on the project, you will need that.

Finding a good plot of land takes time! If you find something convincing, then go for it and secure the financing in advance.

I think the idea of the "closed shell" and interior finishing by family/acquaintances is great. And uh yes, a lot can go wrong with the screed, especially cracking. Take a look around here in the forum...

Thank you for your helpful opinions on my considerations regarding house construction. Whether we stay in the current apartment depends on whether we find a suitable rental apartment for us. If that is the case, then we will move out.

The search for a plot of land is very time-consuming. The supply of plots in our area is very scarce. As long as we do not find a suitable plot, we will save about €1,000 every month and also put aside half (2*2600/2=2600) of the holiday and Christmas bonuses each. Here in Austria, we have 14 monthly salaries. In this way, we would save about €14,600 annually for the plot.

I am a very precise person but I find it hard to make decisions. Finding a floor plan will certainly take a while. I have also already researched a lot about the type of construction. There are so many options: solid brick, timber frame with straw and clay, timber frame with cellulose, hemp concrete, hemp bricks, CLT, etc. I believe I will certainly not be bored in the next 3 to 5 years.

Can anyone recommend a program for drawing a floor plan?
