Hello,

looks like corrosion protection paint. Then all that's left is to paint, unfortunately it's too late for the raw look...

Instead of RAL7016, I would probably tend towards DB703, RAL7013, or RAL7022 to get rid of this bluish tint.

Best regards

We also have a staircase like that in the living area, but with dark brown steps (black or Moor oak was not offered at the time). I do not adhere to RAL colors indoors, but deliberately choose from tonal scales tone-on-tone, complementary, or whatever I like. I do not orient myself to white (windows, walls, ceiling). The white tone neutralizes and supports. We used a gray tone with about 75% black density. If I hadn’t liked it, I would have had no problem spending another 2 hours repainting. Now, after 11 years, black and gray are disappearing here and are only used as accents. Gray and black turn into white and beige. The staircase will be next. Copper, blush... we’ll see what the market offers next year. In this respect: do as you think. If it doesn’t fit, you can change it.

I would choose color. A muted, grayish green or red. If you prefer something less interesting, then I would paint it white. Anthracite or black with white is really not a very nice contrast where there is not enough space and light. Then it looks like "we didn't dare to do anything and just did what everyone else has done so far."

I would do anything else except anthracite or black.

If the staircase is meant to be visually dominant, choose the dark color. If you prefer it lighter and more inconspicuous, choose white.

Actually, I wanted white first and the wall beige. However, by the time we get around to painting the 3-story stairwell, we might as well repaint the staircase too.

DB tones are not available as options. RAL7013 and 7022 have a more noticeable brown tint on my color chart than anthracite has a blue tint. I have to let that sink in first.
