We also only plastered. We always touch up the paint in certain areas of the house where the child and cat leave their marks. If you don't have custom-mixed paint, you can even buy more and you won't see it.

Plastered walls have so far survived three children (now teenagers) well (in different houses). I see no reason to have to wallpaper.

The world doesn't end if you have to repaint the room after the creative phase. You think you can just replace a wallpaper. In reality, with smooth fleece you will see the seams and so you’d rather just paint over it, like with plaster. Hopefully, you’re not even considering textured wallpaper.

The place will only stay flawless for 2 or 3 weeks anyway with kids. Crawled once over the floor, touched the wall... black mark. That's just how it is.

With a magic eraser you can also remove a lot from the plaster (especially handprints), but unfortunately I don't know how it behaves on wallpaper. We have planned to renovate the children's room after the start of school, so hopefully the creative phase will be limited to the intended materials and the wall will be spared :D

First remains the question of the child's age.

If small, let's say up to 12 years, then a nice child-appropriate wallpaper. What should a child do with a white or differently colored and therefore boring plaster.

There are great children's wallpapers with racing cars for boys or ice princesses for girls. Or just many other motifs.

A child's room should be furnished at least a little bit child-appropriately.

Are you stuffy.

Have you ever thought that you can also wonderfully paint great motifs yourself on plaster?
