I got myself a central vacuum cleaner a few years ago and it broke down within 6 or 7 months. So I'm not really impressed with it.

A central vacuum system has always been a dream of mine. However, after thorough research, I decided against it. The hoses can wear out quickly, and replacing them is quite expensive. When I think about how easily you can suck up something that then clogs the pipe, how do you access it in such a system? Cumbersome? And the hoses probably get nasty inside quickly as well. Besides, they are not exactly energy-efficient. The laundry chute was more convincing to me.

We have been considering the idea of a central vacuum cleaner for a long time. It is much quieter than a conventional one, easy to use, much cleaner than a normal one. But unfortunately not necessarily cheap. We would have had to pay almost 2500, with that I could buy 10 vacuum cleaners that are truly top quality and have had no follow-up costs with the system.. well, let's see if we will regret it

Laundry chute is certainly not bad, but difficult to implement since the chute has to go down to the basement (at least usually! The ground floor would be much easier). Also to consider is the space lost due to the chute.

Well, with about 35x30 it shouldn't be too difficult to plan. After all, a normal laundry basket usually takes up more space and everyone probably has one in the bathroom or bedroom, right?

With us, we have to look carefully where to place it. But it will probably take the following route: Laundry room basement Cloakroom or guest WC ground floor Bathroom 1st floor and then also Bathroom 2nd floor that saves a lot of running around and with 4 or more people in the household quite a bit of laundry accumulates.

What fascinated me about the central vacuum was that you don't need a cleaning closet. But that's not really true, after all you still have a bucket and mop, don't you?

You are worrying unnecessarily.. your laundry chute doesn’t save you that many trips because the laundry still has to be washed downstairs and you still have to carry it up (which is actually the more difficult part). and the route you describe is fine, if it actually works that easily. Especially since you also have a few other pipes going up and down there, which simply take up space overall. If you have the space, good, otherwise, well..

And you also need a cleaning closet for the hose of the central vacuum cleaner. It is up to 9 m long and also has the rod at the front, like you currently have attached to your vacuum cleaner..

Then you can really buy a lot of vacuum cleaners! Dyson and Vorwerk would be included there too. Of course carrying heavy things upstairs is hard, but after all someone has to sort the laundry and put it in the machine and take it out again and hang it up. No one can take that away from you either, but it is still a relief.
