If I had golden taps, I would unscrew them, melt them down, sell them and use a fraction of the proceeds to install something nice. Gold-colored taps in a roughcast wallpaper house... maybe that will become trendy again-

No one is doing that. Commercial wallpaper had its time too. Had. It could come back again. Raufaser as well. But at the moment it's simply not in style.

That may be, but it’s not supposed to be "slapped" on or just "fit," it’s supposed to be beautiful. As writes, there was also a time when fiberglass wallpaper was used, which was the easiest to work with. In my opinion, even that would allow significantly more elegant design possibilities than Raufaser.
Well... the OP will take a look and then decide for themselves.

True, but that also equally applies to everything that’s not trendy.

Oops... I think they’re more “trendy” when being removed rather than when being installed, because currently hardly anyone puts fiberglass wallpaper up.

If you like it that way, then it’s right for you. That’s how it should be.

Yeah, with the tried and tested Gelsenkirchen Baroque, certainly nice too!

To speak up a bit in favor of the unpopular "Raufaser": we also decided on it. Reasons? - freely paintable for color accents (plus compared to wallpaper, because much easier) - paintable multiple times (plus compared to wallpaper, if you like changes) - warm to the touch (plus compared to plaster) The latter was really decisive for us. The first two points are of course also fulfilled by plaster, possibly even better. But plaster feels cool, harder, somehow more distant. Of course, it fits perfectly with many modern styles, but we simply found "Raufaser" cozier.

That's exactly what matters!!! The paintable plaster of course has the disadvantage that the sand grains are always there and removing them would be a bit of a mess and also laborious. Currently, we have fleece with paint on it but who knows what it will be soon. Ultimately, there is no ONE advantage but you just need a little imagination or advice to make both options look nice.
