Hello,
our bathroom is almost finished. Next week the tiling will be done, and then the plumbing company will install the sink, toilet, and heating.
The shower in question is flush with the floor. The floor is already in place.
We had to lower the ceiling above the shower (76x86) because we wanted empty conduits in the wall next to it. In the end, it was unfortunately not possible otherwise than to lower the ceiling by 8 cm.
There, in this lowered ceiling, I would like to install LED spots. 3 or 4 pieces. Cable and electrical wiring are already prepared.
The lowered ceiling above the shower currently consists of a simple green drywall panel.
Now I am wondering how I can design this ceiling. I believe it is currently fashionable to smooth the panels very evenly and then just paint them.
But since this is directly above the shower (so actually a "wet room"), I unfortunately do not know if I can do that there. The distance from floor to ceiling is about 240 cm.
Of course, I have already searched the internet. The most suitable product seems to be dispersive silicate paint. Vapor permeable, so that the water vapor can also penetrate the drywall and be released there again (keyword indoor climate). But the paint is really tricky if I read it correctly (alkaline, etc.) and not so easy to get. Besides, I don't need a 5-liter bucket for this small area.
But of course that becomes irrelevant if I apply a primer so that the drywall does not start absorbing the paint.
Pure dispersive paint is not supposed to be completely airtight, so that would also work. But here again: with primer, that becomes irrelevant.
What experiences can you share with me regarding painted ceilings in wet rooms?
How best to prime? How best to paint?
Are there suitable alternatives to painting so that the LED spots also have space?
Thank you very much in advance.
Regards, xola
